AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND MILL LEVIES
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TOWN OF HOLLY ORDINANCE NO. 553 LEVYING GENERAL PROPERTY TAXES FOR THE YEAR 2023 TO DEFRAY THE COSTS OF GOVERNMENT FOR THE TOWN OF HOLLY, PROWERS COUNTY, COLORADO FOR THE 2024 BUDGET YEAR
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Town of Holly adopted its annual Budget in accordance with local government budget law on December 21, 2023; and
WHEREAS, the amount of money necessary to balance the budget for general operating expenses is $70,674; and
WHEREAS, the 2023 valuation for assessment for the Town of Holly as certified by the County Assessor is $2,322,651.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Holly, Colorado, as follows:
Section 1. There is hereby levied upon each dollar’s worth of property within the Town limits of the Town of Holly for the purpose of defraying the necessary expenses and paying all legal obligations of said Town for the calendar year beginning January 1, 2024, a tax of 30.428 mills on each dollar’s worth of property as per the assessed value thereon as shown by the valuation for assessment, as certified by the Prowers County Assessor for the year 2023, as fixed by the Board of Equalization.
Section 2. That the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to immediately certify to the County Commissioners of Prowers County, Colorado the mill levy for the Town of Holly, Colorado as hereinabove determined and set.
Section 3. That the Board of Trustees hereby finds and declares that an emergency exists and that the public health, welfare, and safety require that this Ordinance shall be and become effective immediately after its final passage and publication.
