A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF HOLLY, BOARD OF TRUSTEES OPPOSING THE ENTRY, TRANSPORTATION, EMPLOYMENT, SETTLEMENT AND SUPPORT OF UNDOCUMENTED ILLEGAL AND/OR UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS IN THE TOWN OF HOLLY, COLORADO
WHEREAS, the Town of Holly, Colorado (the “Town”) is duly organized and operating as a statutory town under the Constitution and laws of the State od Colorado (the “State”); and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Town of Holly (the “Board”) firmly believes and holds that any individual immigrating into the United States should do so in a manner which follows all applicable laws; and
WHEREAS, the Biden Administration has permitted and facilitated the entry into the United States of more than 285,000 illegal immigrants from our southern border in the fiscal year 2023; and
WHEREAS, at least 1.7 million illegal immigrants have evaded capture since fiscal year 2021, and 169 individuals have been on the terrorist watch list in fiscal year 2023; and
WHEREAS, urban areas within the state, including the capital, Denver, are having their resources, infrastructure, public places and other areas completely overwhelmed by the tremendous influx of uninvited migrant and/or illegal immigrants, causing many to declare states of emergency; and
WHEREAS, this urban saturation and over consumption of resources to support uninvited migrants and/or illegal immigrants has led to the dispersion into rural areas of the state, creating the possibility of such migrating into the Town of Holly; and
WHEREAS, as the Town of Holly is diligent in allocating resources for its citizens, there is no surplus of resources including shelter, social services, public health, and public safety to support the needs of any number of undocumented, illegal, or uninvited migrants; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Town of Holly, Colorado, has determined that the importation, transportation, placement, settlement, or employment of illegal immigrants, often without proper examination, presents a threat to our national security and threatens the health, welfare, safety, social order and economic stability of the states, cities, counties and rural areas including the Town of Holly; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Town of Holly, Colorado supports legal immigration and lawfully administers migrant worker programs as being beneficial to the sustainability of the Town of Holly.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees of the Town of Holly, Colorado declares and affirms that the Town of Holly is not a sanctuary town or community and will not open shelters or provide services to illegal, undocumented or uninvited migrants that may arrive in the county.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Board of Trustees of the Town of Holly, Colorado will continue to place the needs of its citizens first and foremost, and in all instances above those of any undocumented, illegal, or uninvited migrant. For the welfare of the Town of Holly citizens and those across Colorado, the Board of Trustees of the Town of Holly, Colorado calls upon the President of the United States and the United States Congress to immediately restore the rule of law along the southern border and to quickly create a system to allow reasonable examination of migrants who wish to enter the United States legally and become productive members of our society.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Board of Trustees of the Town of Holly, Colorado also opposes the action of individuals, corporate entities, NGOs, religious organizations or denominations, federal agencies, departments and Presidential Executive Orders that facilitate the entry, transportation, placement, settlement or employment of illegal immigrants to, or within the lawful boundaries of the Town of Holly, County of Prowers, State of Colorado.
